Binoculars excel at deep space observation - viewing objects such as star clusters and nebulae. Quick looks at solar system objects are also rewarding - Saturn will appear elongated, the moons of Jupiter will be in evidence, and Earth's own moon will reveal intense detail.
The 11x70 LW and 15x70 LW models are excellent all-around binocular that can be hand-held for short periods of time, though a light tripod or lawn chair is definitely recommended for extended observing sessions with the 15x70. True field of view is 4.5° (11x) and 4.3° (15x), and weight is just 3 lbs., 1.5 oz. Every Garrett Optical binocular must pass a rigorous 14-point inspection that insures a high degree of both optical and mechanical performance, including accurate collimation. Any necessary adjustments are performed by a highly experienced technician on a U.S. Navy Mark V Collimator.
